What is it?
The LSG Series is a float-type level switch designed to detect and monitor the level of a liquid in a tank or vessel. It’s a simple, robust device that uses a floating element, inside which is a toroidal magnet, to control a switch located in a guide tube. When the float moves with the liquid level, the switch changes state, signalling whether the liquid has reached a defined height or not. 

Where is it used?
This switch is suitable for a wide variety of marine and industrial applications: tanks, wells, overfill lines, bilges, wastewater or fuel storage, and any installation where liquid-level monitoring or overfill protection is needed. It works reliably for liquids with or without foam. The LSG is also approved for use in hazardous (explosive) zones and is compliant with marine-level and overfill alarm standards, making it appropriate for ships, chemical tankers, or industrial plants.

How does it work?
The mechanism is simple yet effective: as the liquid level changes, the float rises or falls. The float houses a magnet, which actuates a reed switch (or contact) inside the guide pipe, without any contact between float and switch. This changes the output between ON or OFF. In the “current-output mode”, when supplied with 24 V DC, the switch gives defined current outputs (6 mA when ON, 14 mA when OFF). For simpler setups, it works as a basic ON/OFF switch contact.

What problems does it solve?
The LSG solves several critical issues in liquid handling and safety: it helps avoid overfilling of tanks, prevents dry-running pumps, triggers alarms for high or low liquid levels, even if the liquid is foamy, and offers a robust, low-maintenance solution for level monitoring. Because it’s built without complex electronics inside the liquid and can operate in hazardous areas, it increases reliability and safety in demanding industrial and marine environments.
