What is it?
The ASL Series is an ultrasonic level switch, a device designed for detecting the presence (or absence) of liquid at a fixed point. It is built to operate without moving parts, using acoustic-wave technology inside a metal rod to sense whether liquid covers the rod or not.

Where is it used?
This instrument is suitable for both marine and on-land installations. Typical applications include tank level monitoring, overfill protection, water-ingress alarms, pump control systems, pipe over-fill detection, and high/low-level alarms for liquids, even when the liquid may contain foam. 

How does it work?
The ASL uses a metal rod that carries distributed acoustic waves. When the rod is not submerged, the waves travel freely without obstruction. When liquid rises and covers the rod, the acoustic waves become damped. A built-in piezoelectric sensor detects this damping and instantly switches the output to ON (or OFF), delivering a simple on/off signal. There are no moving parts, no vibrating mechanisms, and no optical or capacitive sensing, it works purely with sound attenuation.

What problems does it solve?
It provides reliable, maintenance-free detection of liquid level or presence, crucial in safety and process-control contexts. Because there are no moving parts, the device is very durable and less prone to mechanical failure, even under harsh conditions or with challenging liquids (e.g. with foam, sediment, viscous fluids). This makes it useful for preventing overfills, avoiding pump dry-runs, issuing timely alarms for water ingress, and ensuring safe management of tanks and piping systems.
