FSU Cap Lopez Gas Detection Modernization

Complete Gas Detection Upgrade for a Floating Storage Unit

Neohance has been awarded the contract to modernize the complete Fixed Gas Detection and Gas Sampling System onboard the FSU Cap Lopez in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The project includes gas mapping, hazardous-area assessment, replacement of the existing systems, Rockwell Automation integration, testing, and full commissioning.

The Challenge

Reliable gas detection is essential onboard the FSU Cap Lopez to protect personnel, equipment, operations, and the environment.

Aging components, limited spare-parts availability, and changing operational requirements created the need for a modern, maintainable, and fully integrated safety system.

Our Scope

Neohance is responsible for the complete modernization of the vessel’s gas detection infrastructure, including:

  • Gas mapping and hazardous-area assessment
  • Detector positioning and optimization
  • Replacement of the fixed gas detection system
  • Replacement of the gas sampling system
  • New field and signal infrastructure
  • PLC and HMI engineering
  • Rockwell Automation integration
  • Alarm and shutdown interface verification
  • Testing, commissioning, and final validation

Gas Mapping and System Integration

Our engineering team will assess the areas where gas accumulation may occur and optimize detector placement to improve coverage, reduce potential blind spots, and support faster detection.

The new system will be integrated into the existing Rockwell Automation platform, enabling centralized monitoring, real-time gas concentration data, alarm management, event logging, and system diagnostics.

Complete Project Responsibility

Neohance serves as the single point of responsibility throughout the project, covering engineering, gas mapping, system design, automation integration, installation support, testing, and commissioning.

The modernization supports safer operations, improved system visibility, easier maintenance, and greater long-term reliability onboard the FSU Cap Lopez.
