What is it?
The SPG (Self Powered Level Gauge) is a pressure-gauge / pressure-sensor, designed to measure the pressure inside a tank or vessel.
Where is it used?
It is used in industrial environments wherever you need to monitor pressure, often in conjunction with bubbling-level measurement systems (or other pneumatic setups). For example, when using “air-bubbling” to measure liquid level in tanks, the DSSPG01 senses the air pressure and converts it to an electrical signal so you know what the pressure (and therefore the implied liquid level) is. It’s also suitable for use in process vessels, holding tanks, any sealed containers or piping where accurate pressure monitoring is required.
How does it work?
The device senses the pressure of the gas (often air) that’s applied into a system (like a tube immersed in a liquid or a pneumatic circuit). It converts that pressure into an electrical output, typically a standard signal (e.g. 4–20 mA or similar), so a control system can read the value. In a “bubbling” level-measurement context, as liquid level changes, the back-pressure needed to maintain the bubble flow changes; the DSSPG01 detects that pressure and outputs a signal that effectively corresponds to the liquid’s hydrostatic pressure (and hence level).
What problems does it solve?
It provides a reliable way to monitor pressure, whether for a direct pressure-measurement application or as part of a bubbling-level system. Without a good pressure sensor you couldn’t convert bubbling pressure into an electronic signal for monitoring or automation. The DSSPG01 avoids the need for submerged sensors or floats in liquid, because you’re only measuring air (or gas) pressure, reducing issues like corrosion, fouling, or mechanical wear. It also allows continuous, real-time monitoring and integration with control systems (thanks to its standard electrical output), which improves safety, automation, and accuracy in industrial fluid or gas systems.
