What is it?
The Rockwell PowerMonitor 5000 Power Quality Meter is an advanced electrical energy monitoring device designed to measure power quality and energy consumption with high precision. It serves as the next generation of energy monitoring products, providing detailed insights into electrical parameters to optimize energy usage and ensure system reliability.
Key applications:
-
Energy management: Monitors power and energy usage in industrial and commercial installations to support efficiency improvements.
-
Power quality analysis: Detects harmonics, flicker, transients, and other disturbances that affect equipment performance and lifespan.
-
Event monitoring and diagnostics: Captures oscillography and event synchronization data to analyze power disturbances and faults.
-
Integration with control systems: Communicates via native EtherNet/IP and supports connection to SCADA and other control systems for real-time monitoring and control.
How does it work?
The PowerMonitor 5000 continuously measures 4 voltage and 4 current channels, sampling 1024 data points per electrical cycle. It calculates over 6,000 electrical parameters per cycle, providing comprehensive and detailed monitoring. The device includes digital inputs for WAGES (Water, Air, Gas, Electricity, Steam) data collection and multiple outputs for alarms and control signals. Configurable alarms enable real-time alerts for up to 20 different events, allowing early detection of power quality issues.
What problems does it solve?
Power quality issues such as voltage sags, swells, harmonics, flicker, and transients can cause equipment malfunction, downtime, and reduced lifespan. The PowerMonitor 5000 offers reliable detection and analysis of these disturbances, helping maintenance and energy teams to identify root causes and take corrective action. This improves system reliability, reduces energy waste, and lowers operational costs.
