What is it?
The Rockwell PowerMonitor™ 500 (Bulletin 1420) is a compact and user-friendly energy meter designed to accurately measure and monitor electrical energy in industrial installations. With its integrated LCD display, operators gain immediate insight into voltage, current, power, energy, and power factor without the need for external interfaces. The device supports communication via EtherNet/IP™ and Modbus, making it easy to integrate into existing SCADA and energy management systems. The PowerMonitor 500 is widely used for energy sub-metering, real-time monitoring, and cost control, as it provides detailed consumption data per installation segment and helps identify opportunities for energy savings.
How does it work?
The device continuously measures the electrical parameters of the connected system and calculates key values such as energy, power, and power factor. These measurements are displayed locally and can be transmitted via communication ports for further analysis and reporting. The PowerMonitor 500 also features configurable alarms to quickly detect abnormalities such as overvoltage or overload. With multiple digital inputs and outputs, it easily interfaces with other systems, making it an ideal solution for industrial energy management applications.
What problems does it solve?
Invisible energy consumption and inefficient use of electrical installations can lead to unnecessary costs and equipment wear. The PowerMonitor 500 addresses these issues by providing real-time visibility into energy usage, allowing inefficiencies to be quickly identified and energy costs reduced. It protects equipment by detecting anomalies early, supports sustainability goals by enabling energy reduction programs, and contributes to better control over both energy use and maintenance strategies.
